♨ Steam Vent Salmon

Rice-Cooker Steamed Salmon • Broccoli

Steam Vent Salmon

The rice cooker is basically a geothermal vent you keep on the counter — steady steam, zero babysitting. Salmon goes in the basket, broccoli goes in the basket, five minutes later you're eating like the apocalypse never happened. Gentle steam keeps the fish silky instead of dried out, and everything cooks in one pot.

⚗ Required Supplies:

🔧 Preparation Protocol:

STEP 1: THAW PROTOCOL: Frozen salmon thaws overnight in the fridge (the safe route), or sealed in cold water for about an hour if you're in a hurry. Never thaw on the counter — that's how you grow things you can't see.
STEP 2: Pat the salmon dry and rub all sides with the olive oil, salt, and garlic powder.
STEP 3: Add about 2 cups of water to the rice cooker pot and set the steam basket in place. Arrange the salmon in the basket skin-side down with the broccoli florets around it. Close the lid.
STEP 4: Run the Steam function for 5 minutes. Done when the thickest part of the salmon reads 145°F on a thermometer, or flakes easily with a fork, and the broccoli is bright green and tender.
STEP 5: Lift the basket out carefully — hot steam rushes up when you open the lid. Serve with lemon wedges. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.

⚠ SURVIVAL NOTE: Pure protein and green veg, almost no carbs — about as blood-sugar-friendly as a meal gets. The steam keeps every bit of moisture in, so even a lean fillet stays juicy. Pair with Ration Rice if you want carbs on the side.
